MCPC Announces Fourth Annual E-Recycling Event in Collaboration with Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Cleveland Zoological Society

Cleveland, April 9, 2024

As part of its ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship and community engagement, MCPC is thrilled to announce the fourth annual E-Recycling Event in partnership with Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Cleveland Zoological Society. This event aims to promote responsible electronic waste disposal while fostering environmental awareness and conservation efforts within the local community. This event will take place on Friday, April 19th, at the Cleveland Metroparks Zoo from 10 am – 2 pm.

E-waste poses a significant environmental threat when improperly disposed of. By hosting this event, MCPC endeavors to provide a convenient and eco-friendly solution for individuals to dispose of their old or unused electronics responsibly.

“We are excited to once again collaborate with Cleveland Metroparks Zoo and Cleveland Zoological Society for our fourth annual E-Recycling Event,” said Mike Trebilcock, Chairman and CEO at MCPC. “This initiative reflects our shared commitment to sustainability and environmental conservation. Together, we aim to raise awareness about the importance of e-waste recycling and encourage individuals and organizations to join us in safeguarding our planet for future generations.”

The event will provide the community with an opportunity to safely dispose of a wide range of electronic devices, including computers, laptops, monitors, printers, televisions, and more. Through responsible recycling practices, MCPC aims to prevent hazardous materials from ending up in landfills and promote the reuse and recycling of valuable electronic components.

MCPC recycles electronic devices at its Secure Technology Asset Disposition (STAD) center located in Old Brooklyn and will use the money earned through this consumer e-recycling event to support gorilla conservation.

“Our partnership with MCPC has been extraordinary. We love to see local businesses invest in the community through education and support and we are thrilled to have the MCPC truck at Cleveland Metroparks Zoo again this year and do our part to encourage responsible and sustainable recycling of old electronics,” says Dr. Chris Kuhar, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo Executive Director. For more than two decades, Cleveland Metroparks Zoo has been a leader in conservation by advising and funding partners in the field who are working to protect species most at risk around the world. Zoos play an important role in international wildlife conservation efforts. Zoos also have the unique opportunity to educate and inspire guests on how animals they see in their communities are ambassadors for those in the wild.

The MCPC “Go Green Machine” truck will also be at the event. It’s colorful graphics help educate the community on the importance of good recycling practices and the devastating effect that technology device resource needs have had on the world gorilla population. Fortunately, unused electronics can be recycled, which keeps them out of landfills and allows the minerals inside to be reclaimed and sold to companies to make new electronic devices.

The fourth annual E-Recycling Event underscores MCPC’s ongoing commitment to corporate social responsibility and environmental sustainability. By providing a platform for e-waste recycling and education, MCPC aims to empower individuals and organizations to contribute to a cleaner, greener future.
