Are Desktop or Application Virtualization Right for Your Business?
- Do you have concerns about the security of data on employee PCs and laptops
- Is a large portion of your IT staff’s time spent managing user desktops?
- Does it take days to deploy new PCs in your environment?
- Are there new industry compliance regulations for data to which your business must adhere?
- Are you spending too much time maintaining company PCs and laptops due to malware, viruses and other security-based issues?
- Is your computer fleet aging and in need of a refresh/replacement?
- Do the majority of users (or a large department) access the same set of applications?
If you answered, “yes” to any of these questions, your business may be a good candidate for desktop virtualization, application virtualization or both. However, due to the complexity of these solutions and the uniqueness of all IT environments, you might consider a desktop and application virtualization assessment to determine their viability for your organization.
Desktop and Application Virtualization Assessment Details
A desktop and application virtualization assessment takes a
snapshot of your company’s computing environment. By becoming innately aware of what applications employees access, how they interact with data, and what security risks they may impose, we can help you
develop a virtualization solution that gives users the freedom they need while providing you with more control.
The process is simple, but the results are powerful.
First, you’ll meet with an MCPc Solution Architect to discuss your situation, needs and goals. If virtualization seems to be a sound solution based on this information, we’ll work with you to put together a representative subset of employees based on user segmentation.
To begin the analysis, we install assessment software on the representative employees’ computers which will assess their daily usage and provide reports that include:
- Most- and least-used applications
- Resource requirements by application
- Hard drive memory capacity and availability
- Network access details
- Average application runtime and failures
- Software downloads and updates
- Out-of-office access
Your MCPc Solution Architect then analyzes the data and how it fits within your organizational structure, end-user segmentation, industry and needs. Based on the information collected, he or she answers the following questions:
- Is desktop virtualization right for your business or for specific areas of your business?
- What commonly used applications are good candidates for virtualization?
If there are opportunities to virtualize, the Architect will meet with you to recommend a customized virtualization plan that will include:
- Business, IT and security benefits, specific to your organization
- Technology roadmap, outlining your path to virtualization based on company goals
- Virtualization design documentation
- Hardware, software and licensing requirements, and bill of materials
- Implementation timeframe
- Estimated total cost of ownership
- Estimated savings in maintenance and operating costs
- Estimated time to achieve 100% ROI
Efficiency. Manageability. Agility.
