Business Need
Corey Airport Services was looking to increase its ability to provide advertising and public services to the Buffalo Niagara International Airport. The need for increased dynamic communication was coupled with the importance of providing airport visitors with a pleasurable viewing experience. Corey wanted to further promote advertisers using digital signage and electronic public display technology to ensure that advertisers’ messaging captured viewer attention.
Corey also wanted to manage the content remotely through a centralized network so that message changes could be updated and scheduled easily. Due to the nature of this display installation, and its weight of 2,330 pounds and size measuring 7 feet high by 11 feet wide., there were additional challenges in ensuring that the display structure was safely installed and met airport and FAA safety requirements.
Solution
After competitively bidding out the project, MCPc was selected due to its depth of knowledge and experience within video display technologies and installations. The MCPc team helped design and install a two-sided video display mounted in the center of a high traffic walkway at the Buffalo Niagara Airport. Each side of the structure featured nine screens, three-high by three-across, which were configured to show one large LCD image visible from hundreds of feet away.
The wall was designed to hold more than two thousand pounds of weight to the facility structure, meeting all airport safety guidelines. MCPc ensured that all hardware and software was engineered and designed to be compatible with the highest resolutions in the industry, presenting high definition images. The screens were programmed to be automatically turned off and on synchronized with the airport’s hours of operation.
MCPc’s team provided all products and delivered the onsite installation services early in the morning to minimize disruption during the airport’s busy times. MCPc provided detailed project planning and resource scheduling with other trades such the commercial welder, electric provider and airport approved general contractor to ensure all project coordination.
Results
Corey has seen an increase in advertising activity and inquiries, and visitors are noticeably more aware of the messages and content on these dynamic displays. Both local and national companies that have not worked with Corey in the past have expressed an interest in advertising on this eye-catching display. The Niagara Frontier Transportation Authority estimates that more than five million people walk through this airport every year offering advertisers a large audience.
In addition to advertising, the display also presents current and extended weather forecasts, sport scores and up-to-date stock market activity for passengers to view. Corey Airport Services provides advertising solutions in a number of airports across the United States, and has expressed an interest to MCPc of installing displays like this in a number of them.
